less is definitely more

LESS IS MORE often used by minimalist artist and functionalist. it can be found in all sort of art form for example music, architecture, literature, sculpture, etc. it started somewhere in 1945 after the world war II. minimalist bare an idea that any form of art have to be stripped down to its fundamental features. paint it black by Richard Serra

minimalism, simplicity, less is more its all the same idea - making things as less as you can. the outcome may be simple but the process, barely not . the process (as written by John Maeda in The Laws of SimplicityThink. Then reduce. Then think again, harder. Reduce some more. Repeat process again. Repeat. Again.

Some designers prefer minimal and simple visual characteristic in their design as it is often eye pleasing, and in advertising, minimalistic design creates a clear and straight forward message so that it is easier for the audience to understand. Other than that this kind of design or technique avoids the common problem in  creating an advertisement which is clutter.

People tend to associate the 'less is more' concept with arts and design only, but in truth this concept applies in everyday life as well. As Albert Einstein once said, 'If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it'.
